Swordale is a small, quiet hamlet two miles up the hill from Evanton village.  The house is actually part of a converted farm steading consisting of ten cottages, all made of natural stone.  Ours is the only one fortunate enough to have a vaulted ceiling and Juliet balcony on the first floor, where the lounge is situated.  It has recently been completely, beautifully and thoughtfully renovated. Steading details and photographs are below. We look forward to welcoming you, and really hope you will enjoy your stay here in the Highlands of Scotland.

In brief, about the Steading

Our holiday rental has revealed stonework in the lounge, kitchen and second bedroom and is fully central heated.

There are exposed beams in the high vaulted ceiling of the impressive upstairs lounge, which also has a Juliet balcony.

At the rear of the house there is an attractive enclosed courtyard garden, and to the front a private car park.

Kitchen & Dining

Kitchen view from the stairs in the daytime

The kitchen is fully equipped, and comes with integral electric oven & hob, microwave and coffee machine.  There is also an American-style fridge freezer with cold water and ice dispenser.  Washing machine and dishwasher are integrated, and there is on-tap boiling water, so no need to boil a kettle.  In the dining area, there is an extending table and chairs for seating up to six people.

Downstairs Bedroom & Bathroom

The bedroom has a view out to the rear courtyard and sleeps two in a bespoke wooden double bed.  Carpet and curtains, here and in the hall, have a tartan theme.  A step across the hall takes you to the bathroom comprising a slipper bath and large walk-in double-entry shower, which boasts a very large rain shower head.  The washbasin sits on a custom-made yew shelf.  The hall, which leads to the courtyard and has access to both the bedroom and bathroom, can be closed off with a door to ensure privacy to this “suite” when required.

Lounge

The stairs lead up to the lounge, which has oak bannisters, a high vaulted ceiling and two large glass doors which can be opened to the Juliet balcony.  The tartan theme of the downstairs “suite” is continued here, and there is a bespoke elm coffee table.  Full package Sky TV is included in the rental and can be watched on the large TV screen.

Upstairs Bedroom & En-Suite

This is the larger of the two bedrooms and is at the rear of the house.  It has a bespoke wooden king-size bed and Sky TV.  The en-suite has a large walk in shower with large rain shower head.  The washbasin sits on a custom-made yew shelf.

Rear Courtyard

Undercover seating with overhead heaters, lights and attractive planting.  Ideal for sitting outside to enjoy a coffee or a drink, whatever the Scottish weather may be.
